What we do
Work Registration: International
ASDACS has agreements with over 37 international collecting societies. On an annual basis, we aggregate and distribute the income it has collected from these societies received in the previous year to members.
ASDACS registers your titles with our current collection partners so that they can match your credited works with titles that have screened in the relevant collection territory to identify any royalties that might be due to you. You will also have the opportunity to point out any works that are incomplete or incorrectly credited when you sign the warranty and indemnity declaration we send as part of our annual distribution. ASDACS will also contact you from time to time to verify your credits or to request any further title updates.
Members can register new credits through the online director's portal here: Join or Sign In.
European systems for collecting broadcast data vary from country to country, and ASDACS complies with a wide range of requirements for research, work confirmation and claim documentation before income is received. Broadcasts of Australian and New Zealand works in foreign languages can often present challenges to our research. Our own data is used to cross-check and verify overseas lists.
ASDACS allocates these monies to individual directors using a fair and equitable system of distribution. Where rights have not been allocated at source, a number of factors are involved in determining the amount payable to each eligible director. These factors include the type of program, the length of work and its use. Please see our distribution rules and practices for further information.
Domestic (Screenrights)
ASDACS also manages collections for directors through the mandated collection agency for all screen royalties in Australia and New Zealand - Screenrights. ASDACS registers, collects and distributes on behalf of its international partners and ASDACS’ members, for directors’ royalties (retransmission by free to air broadcast).
International Tools
ASDACS is a member of CISAC, an international governance body for all copyright collecting societies. We register our members along with their credited works with CISAC’s global databases to ensure any possible royalties arising from overseas screenings are paid.
IDA - International Documentation on Audio visual Works
IDA is a not-for profit worldwide audiovisual rights management system that Authors Societies consult to get accurate information on audiovisual works and rights owners.
IPI - Interested Parties Information
IPI is a not-for-profit global online database system administered by SUISA. IPI is utilised by collection agencies to register and identify creative right holders.
